Yure Romão
voice, 7 string guitar
Robby Marshall
clarinet, saxophone, flute
Both arriving at the same time in Paris, Yure Romão (Rio de Janeiro) and Robby Marshall (California) met on the stage performing, before knowing anything more than the other's first name.
Their connection was instant, and Romão began writing Portuguese lyrics to some of Marshall's Brazilian-inspired compositions. They soon found themselves writing together and performing shows in Paris and all around France.
Debut EP
2017
Yure and Robby's debut EP features four original compositions and one take on a classic choro (brazilian instrumental style) played like an old gypsy-jazz waltz. Romão's deep voice sings his dreamy lyrics in Portuguese, and Marshall adds not only soloistic melodies but also rich woodwind orchestrations to thicken out the sound. They are joined by guest percussionists James Müller, Rafael Barata and Pedro Lima.
This self-produced EP was made possible in part by the City of Paris culutural programs League d'Enseignements and Creart'UP.
