On the first full length album with his Paris-based quartet, Robby Marshall gives us a wide glimpse into his universe. The songs are tied together by inviting melodies on saxophone, clarinet, and bass clarinet. The aesthetic is undeniably contempary, yet the group clings to the blues and folklore, anchored in the traditions of their respective instruments. The music is sometimes pensive, other times explosive, and always interactive. Marshall's voice as a composer and arranger are as prevelant as his playing, resulting in a truly detailed portrait of this period in Marshall's european sejour.
